Florence Park Compost Giveaway

On Saturday 9 March Oxford City Council and ODS are taking part in a compost giveaway event alongside the Oxfordshire Reuses event with Oxfordshire County Council.

The compost giveaway will be at Florence Park in Oxford. Organised by ODS and Oxfordshire County Council, the event runs from 10:30am to 1pm, and will see the distribution of 10 tonnes of compost, provided by our contractor, Severn Trent Green Power. Made from garden waste collected from Oxfordshire residents, the compost will be given away free of charge to attendees. Please remember to bring a bag, box or container for your compost.

Alongside the giveaway there will be educational stalls and workshops, bike servicing and repairs by Dr Bike from Broken Spoke, seed sowing with Good Food Oxfordshire, and stall holders such as Oxfordshire Recycles, ODS, SHARE Oxford, Replenish, and Rose Hill & Iffley Low Carbon.

Oxford residents can participate in a competition for a chance to win a £25 voucher to OxUnBoxed, a local refill store. Residents are being asked to share how they innovatively and sustainability transported their compost. For more details visit the recycling events and campaigns webpage.

“The whole thing takes place at the Oxfordshire Reuses event, where you’ll also be able to pick up useful informative from the community action groups stalls. Let's make this inaugural compost giveaway a triumph, paving the way for more similar initiatives in the future."
