Background 

The client required the sandpit area to be extended as the old grass area was holding water and mud which in tuern was contaminating the play sand in the pit.

Why ODS

ODS was chosen because the school had worked with the hard landscape team on many other projects. The client acknowledges our experience and expertise, in this case, paving slabs.  

Challenge

The main challenge was time-related as we had was squeezing this job during half term with only three days’ notice. Another issues on site was the tree root system and raising the slabs to avoid any potential damage to the structure of the tree.

Solution

We removed the waste and other items, raised the area by 100mm with a sand and cement mix to ensure the tree roots were kept intact. We mirrored the existing slab eye line.
