Requirement

The client had a surplus MUGA frame stored in their yard from another site that was being developed. They needed to find the best place to install this as they were running out of space to store it.

The area at Five Mile Drive already had a hard standing surface in place from an old wire fenced games area which had fallen into disrepair. That along with the population in the area due to expand as a result of the Northern Gateway development, meant it was the obvious place for the surplus MUGA to be installed.

Solution

Due to the area already having an existing hard standing surface in place, there was no need to create a new surface from scratch. Both slides and climbing frame was removed from the hard standing area and a new multi-frame was installed, and was more suited to the local children due to being suitable for mid-age range children. The remaining swings and roundabout remained in place. A new self-closing gate was installed and the hoggin footpath at the entrance was redressed. The surface was prepared, the old wire fence was removed and the MUGA ends were installed on the existing tarmac surface.

Results

On completion of the project, the result was a more suitable, safer MUGA in place of the previous unsuitable wire fenced games area. The total cost of the project was reduced due to reusing a surplus MUGA and storage space at the client’s depot was released. The project was completed to time and budget, filling the clients and local residents’ satisfaction.
